Large copper alloy relief with gold-colored finish depicting a group of men surrounding a table with documents, Benjamin Franklin seated at right. Commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Paris. Signed and inscribed on lower left corner: "Frederic Brou 1906" and "I Hess & Fils Fondeurs." Possibly a copy of c. 1897 original by artist, cast for the statue of Benjamin Franklin presented to Paris 27 April 1906. |

Benjamin Franklin was one of the key negotiators of the Treaty of Paris. The treaty was signed in Paris on September 3, 1783 ending the Revolutionary War and recognizing United States' independence from Great Britain. |
