Description |
Mahogany and glass bookcase, lacking original base. The upper section has a plain cornice molding above a set of four eight-panel glazed doors with Gothic arch top panels, enclosing wooden shelves above a shallow bracket foot of a later date. |

George Bacon Wood owned this large glass and mahogany bookcase. G. B. Wood (APS 1829) was a physician and APS President from 1859-1879. He held the position of chair of media medica at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, and subsequently at the University of Pennsylvania. He was an editor of several of the most important pharmaceutical and medical texts of his time. |
