Catalog Number 58.44
Object Name Press, Cheese
Title Model of Cheese Press
Artist Unknown
Date ca. 1825
Description Simple wooden model of a press, hand operated through a toggle. Ratchet on side
Label This model is most likely that of a cheese press, but there is little specific information about it. The ratchet was probably used to secure a flexible band, giving the cheese a circular form. It was possibly submitted for the Magellanic Premium, as the devices offered for that award were unrecorded by the Society.
