Small, plaster, bust-length portrait relief of Thomas Paine within an oval medallion. The top center of the medallion has been fitted with a small brass loop. Medallion appears to have been cast in plaster from a mold. Finishing touches were probably added by hand and may have included smoothing (especially of mold seams, one of which is visible at the top center of the medallion’s outside rim) and light burnishing. The reverse of the medallion is marked "T. Paine" in script. While this inscription closely resembles Paine’s signature, it was likely not signed by Paine himself. Stored in red ring box with label on underside: "BAILEY & KITCHEN / Jewellers / 136 Chestnut Street / two doors above the U.S.B. / Philada." Label on storage box states "Once in possession of Mrs. Mary Hewson. Presented by Miss Frances M. Bradford 6.29.60"

Blue, round, ceramic jasperware medallion with a kneeling figure in bas-relief at the center. The figure's wrists and ankles are bound with a length of chain, and he holds his hands upwards in a pleading gesture. "AM I NOT A MAN AND A BROTHER." is inscribed in bas-relief around the outer perimeter. Unsigned and undated.

Incomplete theodolite. Two fixed sight vanes are mounted to the horizontal circle, which is attached to the tripod assembly through the socket. Rotating compass and alidade with vernier blades in center. Signed "B. Chandlee Nottingham" along outer circle. Analysis of the alidade by a Scanning Electron Microscope in 2007 revealed that it contained silicon, most likely originating from a mixture of silicon bronze, a product that was not developed until the late 19th to early 20th century. Therefore, the alidade is not original to the piece.
